About me
Deb is the Executive Director of the FreeBSD Foundation, joining as the first employee back in August 2005. Before venturing into the world of open source and operating systems, she spent two decades working as an embedded firmware engineer, technical marketer, and technical sales engineer in the data storage industry. Besides running the Foundation, Deb also dedicates time learning more about operating systems while advocating for and giving presentations on FreeBSD at open source conferences, universities, and women in computing events around the world. She also walks the talk by running FreeBSD on her laptop and contributing documentation to the FreeBSD Project. Deb grew up in California and earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, and her Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Santa Clara.
